History of Motorskill

The Ealing League of Safe Drivers (now known as “Motorskill”), originally founded in 1957 by the Road Safety Officer for the Borough of Ealing, has operated continually since that date, providing to its members an annual driving assessment using advanced police drivers acting as the assessors; as well as information and events. The assessments start at Community Close Ickenham (see "Find Us" ) in the car park. Just look for the Motorskill Sign.

A condition and indeed the major reason for membership, is this annual assessment, conducted in the member’s own vehicle, on a variety of roads which are easily accessible to local residents.  The assessment takes one hour and is given in a friendly manner, with an immediate report which the member takes away at the end of that time.  Feedback is both verbal and written and is provided in a constructive and helpful manner, aimed at improving things, rather than to make you feel nervous.  The assessment includes an element of grading, which allows the individual to judge his or her performance both over a series of drives and against an overall standard.

Motorskill’s main aim is to provide a way of checking yourself, so that small problems do not grow into big ones, and so that the good habits can be maintained at the cost of the bad!  We can also help you to make improvements in your driving, often very easily, simply by providing the timely advice.

Motorskill offers assesments to all, but the main regions are Ickenham, Ruislip, Watford, Ealing, Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Eastcote, Harefield, Denham, Iver, Harrow etc.
